Tower Clock Restoration – The Bronx
This 250 ft clock tower built in the 1950’s for Dollar Savings Bank, stood for years as a Bronx icon at 2530 Grand Concourse. Due to many factors the tower fell into disrepair and has remained that way for decades. Thanks to the efforts of the Landmark Preservation Commission and the team here at Americlock in St. Louis, this is no longer the case. The LPC wanted to ensure that the clock tower was as close to original as possible and we delivered. We took the original bronze hands and markers back to our shop and where we were able to restore and paint them to match the natural patina of the bronze, we built new aluminum clock rings and polycarbonate clock faces and then it was back to the Bronx to bring it all together with the help of @GDI Construction. The clocks were installed with impulse motors connected to a controller so that each clock face can be set individually. Visitors to the Grand Concourse in the Bronx can now look up and see their iconic clock tower restored to its former glory!
